What Causes severe Rib Cage Pain While Taking Deep Breath?

I am having rib cage pain, I was pulling weeds, and lost control of my stance while pulling weeds. I lurched forward and felt my rib cage muscles pulling. Mid rib cage pain for a week. Pain increases with movement side to side. No pain if I lie on the affected side. Pain is relieved with 800mg motrin daily but returns. I only use it daily. Able to sleep well but getting out of bed causes more intense pain. Standing straight and walking I have no pain. No breathing problems unless I take a deep breath then affected side is painful. Pain is about a 3 on scale of 10. thanks, gil

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, the pain is very typical of the muscle soreness caused by trauma. In fact, if there is no wound and young have no difficulty in breathing, you don't need to worry.

You can use Mortin as needed for a few days. This may last up to 2 weeks but is not a concerning issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
